The stars sprinkle their shiny over those sleepy eyes of yours
They’re saying, “Hello, Atty! It’s a wonderful pleasure to meet you.”
It’s been quite the hectic day for someone so new to this earth
But hold your horses!
or whatever sleepy sloths like to hold
Before the sheep carry you to your dreams
or whatever sleepy sloths like to count
Why don’t we say goodnight to your new pals?
“Night night,” to the birds getting comfy in their trees
Bundling sticks and nestling leaves, they wrestle for the best spot in the nest
The songbirds chirp soft lullabies, the morningbirds snooze
Funny how even the noisiest birds can lose steam too
They fluttered and flurried whilst the sunshine stood bright
Now feathers are tucked in and all feels just right
“Night night,” to the giraffes, the gentle giants on your left
Whose wandering necks crook in a sleepy yawn
Polite little creatures, they seem to be
Well-mannered and pretty so graceful and neat
As they drift around the zoo with their velvety feet
“Night night,” to the children who came to say hello
For as much as you’ve loved all their company
Their laughs and their cheers and their bundles of sweeties
Their rowdy wee siblings in bumbling buggies
They bug you no more, because they need their sleep too
But don’t you worry, Atty,
After your snooze the skies will bloom blue again
Your friends will be here again
Nico and Fiera too!
Until then, sweet dreams oh Attaboy
We’ll see you very soon.
