Zayd was not like the other boys in his village. While they ran, shouted, and played under the hot sun, Zayd preferred quiet places. He would sit alone on the edge of the dunes, watching the sky change colors as the day slowly faded into night. People said he was strange, but Zayd did not mind, because Zayd listened.

And one evening, the wind spoke back.

It started as a whisper, soft and faint, almost like nothing. At first, Zayd thought it was his imagination. The wind moved across the sand like it always did, brushing past him gently. But then he heard it again.

“Zayd…”

He froze.

Slowly, he looked around, but there was no one there. His heart began to beat faster as he stood up.

“Who’s there?” he asked quietly.

The wind blew stronger this time, lifting sand into the air.

“I see you,” the voice whispered.

Zayd felt fear, but something deeper inside him told him not to run.

“Where are you?” he asked again.

The wind shifted direction.

“Follow me.”

Without thinking too much, Zayd took a step forward, then another. The wind moved ahead of him, guiding him across the dunes toward a place he had never gone before. The sky darkened, the air grew cooler, and still, he followed.

After a long walk, Zayd reached a hidden valley. It was quiet—too quiet. In the center stood an old stone structure, half buried in sand, glowing faintly under the moonlight. Zayd hesitated.

“This is where you must go,” the wind said.

“Why me?” Zayd asked.

There was a pause.

Then the wind answered, “Because you listened.”

Zayd stepped closer. The door of the structure was slightly open, as if it had been waiting for him. He pushed it slowly and stepped inside. The air felt different—cool and still.

At the center of the room stood a glass orb, shining softly. Inside it, light moved like flowing water. Zayd reached out carefully and touched it.

The moment his hand made contact, the light grew brighter, and the wind rushed around him.

“You have been chosen,” the voice said.

“For what?” Zayd whispered.

“To hear what others cannot.”

Suddenly, visions filled his mind. He saw storms before they came. He heard voices from far away. He felt warnings hidden in the wind itself. Zayd stepped back, breathing heavily. This was bigger than anything he had imagined.

“Will you accept this?” the wind asked.

Zayd looked at the glowing orb, then at the open door, then at the dark sky beyond. He knew his life would never be the same again.

Slowly, he nodded.

“Yes.”

The wind calmed. The light softened. And the world felt… different.

From that night on, Zayd was no longer just a quiet boy who sat alone. He became something more—something the village did not yet understand.

Because now…

Zayd could hear the future.

But the next time the wind spoke…

It didn’t whisper.

It warned.

“Something is coming.”
