Kiran always felt like time moved too fast.

Morning came before he was ready. Lessons ended before he understood them. Even laughter with his friends disappeared too quickly, like it was never there at all.

But one evening, everything changed.

Kiran was walking home when he noticed something strange behind an old shop—a narrow alley he had never seen before. At the end of it stood a small wooden door, glowing faintly.

He frowned.
That wasn’t here yesterday…

Curious, he stepped closer and pushed it open.

Inside was a tiny room filled with clocks.

Big clocks. Small clocks. Broken clocks. Golden clocks. Hundreds of them ticked at different speeds, creating a strange rhythm in the air.

And in the middle sat an old woman.

“I was wondering when you would arrive,” she said calmly.

Kiran froze. “You… know me?”

She smiled. “I know what you want.”

Kiran hesitated. Then he whispered, “I want more time.”

The woman stood and walked slowly toward him. In her hand, she held a small silver watch.

“This,” she said, “can give you that.”

Kiran’s eyes widened. “Really?”

“Yes. But be careful. Time is not something you take without giving something back.”

He didn’t fully understand, but he nodded anyway.

The moment he touched the watch, everything stopped.

The ticking clocks went silent. The air froze. Even the dust in the sunlight stood still.

Kiran stepped outside.

The world… had paused.

People were frozen mid-step. Birds hung in the sky. A falling leaf stayed suspended in the air.

Kiran laughed.

“This is amazing!”

From that day on, he used the watch whenever he wanted.

More time to study.
More time to play.
More time to avoid trouble.

Life became easier.

Perfect, even.

But slowly… things began to change.

His friends started saying he felt “different.”

Moments didn’t feel special anymore. When you can pause time anytime, nothing feels urgent… or important.

One day, his best friend called his name while laughing.

Kiran almost paused time again—just to stay in that moment longer.

But something stopped him.

He looked around.

Everything was moving.
Alive.
Real.

And for the first time… he didn’t want to freeze it.

That night, he returned to the alley.

The door was still there.

Inside, the old woman waited.

“I don’t want it anymore,” Kiran said, placing the watch down.

She nodded, as if she expected this.

“What did you learn?” she asked.

Kiran thought for a moment.

Then he said quietly,

“Time isn’t something you need more of…
It’s something you need to feel.”

The woman smiled.

And just like that…

The clocks stopped ticking.

The room faded.

And the door disappeared forever.
