Sail Away

The sun sets slowly on a shimmering sea,
A girl wants to sail away with me.
-
A sleepy voyage to soothe her mind,
A way to leave her woes behind.
-
We’ll gather our things in a big brown boat,
And write the day a goodbye note.
-
Then cast away from the shore with ease,
To set our sails in the stirring breeze.
-
Bundles of blankets stowed in the hull,
As the swing and sway begin to lull.
-
So settle yourself in my warm embrace,
And allow the wind to caress your face.
-
The light lies low like a fading flame,
A new day calls and whispers your name.
-
The gentle glow of sun-blushed skin,
Speaks of serenity, peace within.
-
The sun winks out and welcomes the night,
The stars all dancing, blinking, bright.
-
Now dream of oceans in beautiful blue,
Where waves all weave to pastures new.
-
Know soon tomorrow will be today,
Sail away, sail away, sail away.
