My mother was right!

Why do I put up with you? Really? What excuse is it this time? All I ask is for a little respect from you. You know I worry myself sick when you don’t come home when expected. Does it bother you that I go out of my mind with worry, wondering if you are with some other female who’s got her claws into you? NO! I bet you never give me a second thought.

When did you last tell me that you love me? It’s always me telling you! Lord knows why I even bother. I’m not your mother, but the way you expect me to clean up after you and make sure there’s food waiting when you do waltz in at all hours anyone would think I was. Your mother wouldn’t have let you treat her this way. No way! You respected her but not me. Why?

I was warned when we first met that you’d be trouble. Would I listen? No, I knew best. Even my own mother warned me that you’d have a roving eye and would stray, leaving me for another, and I’d have to watch you like a hawk for the warning signs. She was right and doesn’t she let me know it when she’s gloating saying, ‘I told you so!’

Oh, but it’s a different story when we hit the bedroom. You forget all about your fancy piece then. It doesn’t take long before you start nuzzling my neck and stroking my cheek, insisting I turn over and face you even when I’m furious with you. You expect me to respond to your needs regardless. That is selfish with a capital S! But that just about sums you up. You’re selfish through and through. It’s never what I want is it?

Now I’m warning you for the last time so listen carefully. You will stop sniffing round that female moggy from next door. You have been neutered though it doesn’t seem to have had any effect. You will not stay out all night again having me worried sick that something awful has happened to you. Stop strolling through the door after neither sight nor sound of you for hours. And don’t think rubbing round my legs will get you off the hook either.

Stop looking at me like that with those big green eyes pleading for a stroke. Oh, sod it! Come here and let me cuddle you. Let’s go up to bed now. You have a lot of making up to do, Felix.
