My forever

"You should've let me done this."

He said affectionately while wrapping his arms around my waist and placing his head in the crook of my neck.

"Uh oh, it's okay...you washed the dishes yesterday, so today I had to."

My cheeks had started to get tainted by a faint blush because of his back hug. He definitely knew what effect he and his gestures had on me.

"I have to tell you something..." He suddenly declared.

"Hmmm?"

"I am cheating."

Goosebumps erupted. I stilled. The atmosphere got heavy. I tried to keep my calm because I knew everything has two sides and he still had to explain.

"With whom?"

I asked coldly after resting my hands on the slab and head hung low, without turning around. I didn't have the courage to look him into the eye.

"With you."

He said nonchalantly. I knew he was smirking.

My eyes widened and I turned around and looked at him in the eye now, surprised by my newly-found courage.

"You are cheating with me but on whom?! Are you already married or something, huh? Why did you play with me?! Tell me!!"

I asked him in an accusatory tone, all in one breath.

His smirk grew. I could tell he was amused by my outburst and reactions and if he could, he would've recorded me. But, he didn't dare to because the atmosphere was too tense.

I was shattered. I didn't have the energy to argue with him or fight back. Tears had started to form and had started threatening to fall any moment.

He pulled me closer by my waist to his chest, placed his head on mine and started stroking my hair, as if he had already predicted my reaction and wanted to comfort me. I neither pushed him nor hugged him back. I was frozen.

Tears had started to fall and I knew they had started wetting his T-shirt.

"You know what Darling, business is my lawful wife but you are my mistress."

I knew he was smiling.

My eyebrows furrowed and I pulled back to look at him and blinked though my tears. He was looking affectionately at me.

"I decided to dedicate my entire life to my business but then you happened. You came and filled my life with colours and joy. I don't feel like working anymore. I feel like sticking to you all day and following you like a Goddamn puppy..." He said that all so sincerely and honestly.

I didn't know when my lips parted with surprise. Taking his opportunity, he bent slightly, claimed my lips and started kissing me passionately. I kissed him back with the same intensity after a few beats. After a few moments, I pulled back.

"Oh God! You scared the hell out of me! Now let me continue my work." I smiled shyly, all blushing and hit him playfully on the chest before turning back.

"No, wait...I'm not done yet." He said seriously.

"Now, wha-"

He was positioned on his left knee and his hands held a small box, consisting of a ring with our names' initials engraved on it with a diamond stud in the form of a heart in between the initials. He was looking at me seriously.

"Will you be my lawful wife, as well as, my mistress, forever?" He proposed me!

He was waiting patiently for me to reply. He knew how I didn't like grand revelations and celebrations so he decided to propose me like this. Not gonna lie, I was on cloud nine but I still decided to tease him to make him pay back for his early action.

"Hmmm, what do you think?"

His smile faltered a little but didn't disappear completely.

"It's a...yes?"

"No."

His smile disappeared now and his eyes casted down. I smiled triumphantly now.

"It's a definite yes, not just a 'yes', dummy!" His eyes lit up and he quickly slid the ring on my left hand's ring finger and stood up.

"Wait here." I said and his brows furrowed slightly.

After a few moment, I came back with a similar ring, if not the same and slid that ring on his right hand's ring finger.

He raised an eyebrow at me in amusement because he hadn't expected anything like that at all.

"Only men aren't allowed to carry a ring and be prepared." I crossed my arms over my chest and huffed.

He pulled me closer by my waist once again and I circled my arms around his neck.

"I love you, my to-be-'lawful wife'." He whispered gently.

"I love you too, my to-be-'lawful husband'." I replied affectionately.
