“The Others”
Every year on the night the moon drew red, they came. As predators, glaring death in every trot devouring mercilessly and slaying those in surplus. They were as a plague infectious to all leaving no escape and elevation. Every fight charged was as a gate way to hell for they were us and killing them meant ourselves.

All we could do was hide, close our eyes, and pray their gazes miss. Some called them past lives others inner devil, but us…
We called them “The Others”
Empty, Hollow, Futile

No one knew what they were, where they came from or why they came but the moment our eyes laid another, we knew we had to run. We had to hide. We had to survive.

Tonight, as the veiled clouds unfolded revealing a moon glinting red, a sense of fear swept across the horizon. Those beholden were petrified, the ones in joy saw horror. All in smiles, wondered how miles away home was! Everyone was high on tails not for the night nor the reddened sight but rather for what was to come. What was coming!!!

Seconds passed as ages.Homes filled, doors closed, windows sealed. Silence crept in like a force of nature. Warning sounds resounded, light flickered off, streets emptied: everyone was gone and only us homeless were left being meat shields. But who cared!!! I didn’t!

For there was nothing more for me either way. All I had left was me and soon even that would be no more.

Suddenly, the silence broke, voices beckoned and shivers, drenched down my body. Our own voice were heard in the abyss even though none had spoken and eventually, regret overshadowed all thoughts.

“Maybe it was a mistake, they didn’t deserve to die. I was trying to help, I only wanted to help, not be abandoned, just to live.” But it’s too late now

As I looked out into one of the sealed windows. The Thing saw me, I saw it. It looked exactly as the stories said.

The eyes adorned blue just as mine, my ravishing hair blossomed down on her as waterfall, its pointy ears strerched out resembling mine, it’s petit frame erected twined to mine. We were as one, the only difference was she wasn’t sad or scared, she was smiling

Eventually, my lips twitched, mouth parted, cheekbones arose
And before I knew it. I too was smiling just for a bit only for a bit before everything became.

Empty, Hollow, Futile
