The bouquet sailed towards me in a perfect ark. I could see it coming. Yep, direct hit, I thought. My lucky day! My time to shine universe, it’s an omen, right? All gonna finally come good.

I put my hand up to catch it, forgot I was holding prosecco, tipped the glass all down my silk dress and tripped on the hem of the bridesmaid next to me. Ouch. The bouquet hit me in the face with the scrape of a stalk and the sting of indignity. Is this still an omen?! What does this say about my love life?!

"Oh my gosh you're bleeding!" Said the woman next to me. Maybe I needed a trip to A&E and a handsome steady doctor, with eyes you could get lost in, was just about to sweep me off my feet. I mean I "caught" the bouquet right, it’s basically the law. I'm next in line for the romantic hand of fate to point its finger at me.

Having already caused enough of a scene I headed to the hotel reception to see if they had a first aid kit. The guy behind the desk was freestyle dancing his heart out like no one was watching, and to be honest no one was watching, they were all outside for photos, except for me who he hadn't noticed yet. Oh great, I thought, now I’m gonna embarrass this dude. Could my day get any more awkward? There was no music I could hear. I spotted he had inner ear headphones in, which must be why he hadn't heard me approach. To be honest his moves were kind of cute, he cut a nice silhouette. "Excuse me" I said, just as he started to execute some kind of heel spin. As he registered me he jumped with surprise and hit his head hard on the doorframe to the office or whatever lay beyond. Oh crap! What is it with me today!? "I’m SO sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you" I said. His cheeks reddened and he slipped the headphones out of his ears. His face turning from cringe to concern "Are you ok? Your face…” he gestured nearly touching my cheek. His eyes took in in my wet, ruined dress which was now clinging to me in not unflattering ways… “it’s bleeding."  My cheeks reddened also. "Well, you too?!"I said, looking at the split in his eyebrow where I'd probably just caused this poor guy a concussion. Just then a new song started to blare out of his headphones in tinny stereo...

"I may not always love you,

But long as there are stars above you,

You never need to doubt it,

I'll make you so sure about it,

God only knows what I'd be without you..."

CHEESEY! I thought… But I'll take it!
