Hello. I live in Middlesbrough in the UK, with my wife and whippet, Ludo. I am 39 years old, and I am just starting out as a children's (ages 7+) poetry author. I used to write poems in my teens and early 20s to cope with a difficult time in my life, but having come through the other side of that, I now want to focus my efforts into children's literature that a family might enjoy together. I am chronically ill, but also chronically strong. I stay positive through writing and gaming. Storysloth and its talented members have since inspired me to try my hand at writing for an adult audience. Watch this space for the occasional change of style.

My name is Paul L Jackson, and my journey as an author began in 2018 at the age of 58—all thanks to a £1 bet. That wager led to my debut, A Manchester Cop on a Caribbean Cruise, followed by the sequel, A Manchester Cop on a Mediterranean Cruise. Both are currently available on Amazon. 2019 After retiring from a thirty-year career at the Manchester Evening News, I quickly found myself looking for something to do. During the pandemic, I took a part-time role at Asda Bolton. It was during my days off, while walking the streets as a volunteer litter picker, that the inspiration for my short story collection, 'Pickers', was born. Another project, Search for the Golden Pepper Pot, was inspired by the wonderful colleagues I’ve worked alongside. In February 2025, I joined a creative writing group at the Height Library, Salford. Each week, we are challenged with a list of prompts to create a story or poem within thirty minutes. The pieces included here are the results of those sessions.

I have always enjoyed writing. In the last seven years, I have self-published some books on Amazon, and have also had 14 plays published online at www.lazybeescripts.co.uk. They are mostly one-act plays, as well as some sketches. These are in a variety of genre’s, including horror, comedy and drama.

Retired teacher/lecturer. Nearing completion of an MA in Creative Writing. Trying to write every day and enjoy performing my own poetry in my local area. Mum, grandma, cook, gardener, repairer and downtrodden, general dogsbody.

Collette Night is an Australian writer who crafts lyrical fiction with bite. Her work has appeared in Starry Eyed Press, The Riot Collective, Trembling with Fear, Black Hare Press, AntipodeanSF, Dug Up Magazine, 101 Words, and 50-Word Stories. She was recently longlisted for the 2026 Furphy Literary Award Open Short Story. When not writing, she can be found juggling motherhood and drinking obscene amounts of caffeine.

Katie loves children’s rhythmic stories and has written a handful herself. One is in the middle of being illustrated and soon to be self-published. She loves most genres of the written word but there’s just something special about the joy of children’s literature. Katie has two small boys who inspire most of her writing. Her first ever book idea was inspired by a small song she made up while trying to help her baby through episodes of colic.

Writes cozy, slow-burn romances with stubborn characters, soft tension, and the occasional troublemaking goat. Inspired by rural life and everyday moments, their stories linger in shared work, quiet humor, and the gentle pull of something growing between people.

I am Lisa Dominic, a pupil at Ihifix International School. I aspires to become a surgeon, and one of my favourite hobbies is writing storybooks.

Recently retired and returned to creative writing. I try to make my characters likeable even when flawed, and I don't believe in neat endings. Life seldom works that way.

I live in the heart of England with my partner Col. I started writing around two years ago after being encouraged by a good friend and still have a lot to learn, but the main thing is I enjoy writing. With a love of music and nostalgia I will often draw inspiration from those as well as being blessed with a vivid imagination.
